Our Story – Celebrating 10 Years

Where It All Started

Stanford students who start companies from their dorm rooms are known for a lot of things. Eating a healthy, balanced diet… probably isn’t one of them. 

Back in 2010, Ooshma Garg was a junior studying Mechanical Engineering, while building her first business from the ground up. That meant a lot of late nights, early mornings, and more often than not, a sudden reminder to eat her only meal of the day around 2 AM. And you know what that means; Jack-In-The-Box, McDonald’s, or In-N-Out, at best. 

After a few years of the grind, Ooshma’s hard work was paying off. But her health was spiraling. Her dad was the first to take notice, and armed with a suitcase full of his famous homemade meals, he flew in from Texas to (literally) feed Ooshma back to health. That moment sparked a realization that food can mean so much more than just nutrition. It represents family, connection, and love, and it’s central to your well-being, both physically and mentally.

Gobble’s Mission

The idea for Gobble was born, and its purpose was clear: to create moments of love, through food, for anyone in the country who needed it – from busy professionals and overworked couples to families with their hands full. But how could we do it?

Gobble evolved from that Stanford dorm room, to a Silicon Valley house, to our first Bay Area offices – with plenty of late nights, pitch meetings, and coffee shop sessions in between. All the while, we jumped from idea to idea to try and provide people with healthier, more wholesome meals; from a service that connected you with a chef in your area (what we called “peer-to-peer lasagna”), to a personalized catering service. But none of those seemed like they could accomplish our goal of delivering real, home-made moments of love to people across the country. And how could we make those meals convenient and time-saving, but still fresh and delicious?

Gobble’s Evolution

In the summer of 2014, our team cracked the code with 15-Minute Meals – a rotating menu of meal kits featuring pre-prepped ingredients and a simple, easy-to-follow recipe delivered to your door. The result would save our customers hours of work each week, while still preserving the concept of a made-from–scratch meal, fresh from your kitchen to your table. Those first dinner kits shipped in August of 2014, and the rest is history.

Celebrating 10 Years

Ten years later, we’ve delivered over a million meals across 47 states. We’ve expanded our menu to include Lean & Clean Meals, premium dinner kits, and new Pre-Made Meals, helping to create even more moments of love for more hungry people than ever. We’ve added breakfasts, sides, salads, and desserts along the way – for a minute there, we were even doing drinks! Not to mention all the celebrations we’ve enjoyed with our special holiday boxes over the years. Today, Gobble operates with a truly global team and ships thousands of weekly meal kits from two distribution centers, located near each coast to facilitate faster, fresher deliveries. 

And we’re still hungry for more – because we know you are! We’re honored to have been invited into so many of your kitchens over the years, and we’re hard at work each and every day to continue improving your experience. Whether that’s by launching new product lines and categories, optimizing packaging and deliveries, or just crafting new, exciting recipes you’ll love, there’s still so much to come!
